Suffer the little ones to come unto me....

Between mid-September and late May, our youngest enjoy their time in Sunday School during the 10:15 service. They eagerly head for their classrooms upstairs in the parish center and participate in a lesson corresponding to the lectionary. Bibles, prayer books, and story books are selected with the children’s ages in mind. Teachers incorporate music, games, crafts, worksheets, and discussion into the lessons so that all learning styles are tapped to maximize the child’s interests and abilities. Typically, the children join the congregation on the first Sunday of each month for communion.

Highlights throughout the year include the Christmas Eve pageant, the Hearts for Hope campaign at Valentine’s Day, various outreach projects that differ from year to year, and raising money through mite boxes. The Church School staff hopes to continue to grow in its outreach efforts going forward.

In keeping with years past, we have tried to maintain a staff of two teachers for each grade level, which allows the teachers to rotate. The rotation enables teachers to attend church service every other week. Therefore, we are always welcoming adults of all ages who would like to volunteer their time to teach.
